The First Swipe
Every great love story has to start somewhere. Ours started on everyone's absolute favorite app, Dil Mil (we know, we know). We matched, swapped a few messages, and genuinely felt something. And then timing had other plans. Beejal was buried in her MBA, and Akshay had just landed a new job and was packing up to move to Chicago. Jumping into long distance before even going on a first date? Didn't exactly scream logical. So we let it go. Or at least, we tried to.

Second Time's the Charm
That's the saying, right? In 2023, we matched again. On Dil Mil. Again. This time, something was different. FaceTime calls that started as casual chats turned into hours, nights where Akshay would sit staring at his phone waiting for any notification from Beejal. Eventually, waiting wasn't enough. He jumped on a flight to Orlando. Our first date was at Universal Studios, where we spent two-hour lines just talking, laughing, and figuring each other out. That was all it took. Funny how the world works. The two people who didn't want to be long distance ended up spending the next two years making it work, flying back and forth between Chicago and Orlando, and somehow squeezing in trips to Mexico, the UK, and Turkey along the way.

Same City, Finally
In 2025, we finally closed the long-distance chapter, moving to Dallas so Beejal could become the greatest finance queen in the heart of Y'all Street. New city, same us, just finally in the same zip code.

On September 6th, 2025, under the Georgia rain showers at Chateau Elan, Akshay got down on one knee and asked Beejal if she was ready to do life together forever. She said yes. Obviously.

Forever, Right Here
January 9th, surrounded by every single person who has been a part of this story, we're finally getting married. It took two swipes, a cross-country move, a few international flights, a lot of FaceTime calls, and one perfectly rainy proposal to get here. We wouldn't change a single thing. We can't wait to celebrate with you.
